Hey there film fans, Dave Cavallo here–the other Me Like Movie podcaster–filling in for the vacationing Adam. This week, on our “lucky” “Episode” “12A,” we do our traditional Oscar prelim–OK, it’ll be a tradition in like five years–and, more excitinglingly*, discuss the atavistic tendencies of directors Michael Havananivicus (not his real name) and the legendary Woody Allen. If there’s one thing to say about Episode 10 of Me Like Movie, it’s that it’s the tenthiest episode we will ever do. What makes it so tenthy, you might ask? Well isn’t it obvious? Anyway, Dave and I ventured out to see Hugo in staggering 3D! (For me, staggering in a good way. For Dave, not so much.) (More …)

So after Dave and I ripped apart the trailer for J. Edgar a few weeks ago, I bet you thought we would never bring ourselves to see it. Well, unfortunately for us, you were wrong. Seeing all of the staggeringly great reviews we had to take a look at this thing. So, what did we think? (More …)

In this week’s episode our topic is… depression. Well, more than usual. Dave and I discuss Cannes’ best actress winner Kirsten Dunst’s crippling struggle with depression along side her co-stars dealing with the end of the world in Melancholia. Then, we delve into our own depressing experiences having to sit through the epic crapsterpiece that is Immortals. (More …)

So it’s time for another episode of Me Like Movie, but I have to admit something first. Dave and I are NOT the hosts of the podcast. Obviously, it’s been William Shakespeare the whole time. It is true that he didn’t write a single one of his 37 “masterpieces” but he has recorded every genius episode of Me Like Movie podcast. (More …)

Me Like Movie: Episode 4 – Drive (2011) and The Driver (1978)

After meeting Cannes Best Director Nicolas Winding Refn last week, Dave and I decided that the inevitable, totally awesome decision was to review ‘Drive’. It’s the movie everyone has been talking about, so why not join the discussion in our inimitable–or is that annoying?–’Me Like Movie’ type way?

To sweeten the deal, we decided to throw in a discussion of a classic piece of cinema–also about a quiet man who drives really fast in LA, played by an actor named Ryan–the super cool 1978 Walter Hill film ‘The Driver.’
